Position Description

To advance diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the campus community by administering the daily operations of Equity and Title IX; serves as Title IX Coordinator and Equity Officer. Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Director and Title IX Coordinator will be the primary contact for and ensure Missouri S&T’s compliance with the University of Missouri System policies and procedures, and state and federal statutes and regulations, in the areas of Title IX, civil rights, and equal opportunity.

This position will work directly with campus administrators, faculty, deans, department chairs, directors and the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for the campus and will collaborate with the University of Missouri System to implement system-wide initiatives at Missouri S&T.

  • Serves as the university’s subject-matter expert on requirements of and compliance with Title VII, Title IX, VAWA, Campus SaVE, and related federal and state laws.
  • Conduct, coordinate and ensure the timely completion of the University's response and investigation of complaints pursuant to antidiscrimination laws and policies, including sexual harassment and sexual misconduct, including but not limited to forms of protected class harassment and discrimination.
  • Develop, deliver, and coordinate the campus strategic delivery of training and education and assessment of training and prevention efforts for faculty, staff, students related to sexual misconduct and the coordination of climate studies related to Title IX compliance.
  • Develop, administer, and ensure compliance management of the University's Affirmative Action Plan. May serve as the University's liaison to government and state agencies (EEOC, Department of Labor (OFCCP), etc.) to include leading and coordinating audit responses.
  • Serve as the Deputy ADA Coordinator and collaborate with campus partners to ensure matters involving accessibility or accommodation are addressed appropriately and in a timely, effective, and cost-efficient manner.
  • Under the direction of the Chief Diversity Officer, develop and lead strategic programs and initiatives that provide for work and learning enrichment through diversity, inclusion, affirmative action, employment and educational equity, education and prevention of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation, and other campus initiatives focused on the quality of life and sustaining a supportive inclusive environment for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Promote Missouri S&T as an employer and university of choice by encouraging innovative recruiting methods to ensure a diverse and inclusive workforce by integrating practices of equity and diversity into our local and global communities; advise faculty and staff search committees on best practices.

    Perform related duties as assigned.

A bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

  • JD or Master's degree and three (3) years of experience
  • Progressively responsible experience in student conduct, equal opportunity/affirmative action or human resources discrimination and harassment investigation or other similar investigation experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, collaborate, problem solve and inspire individuals with differing interests and perspectives in a large and complex organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret federal and state equal opportunity and nondiscrimination laws and regulations, including Title IX, Title VII, Title VI, ADA/Section 504, sexual harassment and other applicable laws and regulations
